A National Movement Rooted in Our Community.
Indivisible Highland Park is a local chapter of Indivisible, a nationwide grassroots movement dedicated to protecting democracy and advancing social justice through collective civic action. Indivisible began in 2017 as a response to Trump’s threats to democratic norms and civil rights. Indivisible is now a national movement made up of thousands of local groups across the country. Indivisible Highland Park is proud to be part of this broader network while focusing our work locally — organizing neighbors, supporting our community, and advocating for a more just, livable, and inclusive New Jersey.
INDIVISIBLE HIGHLAND PARK MISSION STATEMENT
Indivisible Highland Park is an independent, grassroots, progressive organization affiliated with the nationwide Indivisible movement. We work collectively with other Indivisible affiliates and other progressive groups in New Jersey and nationwide to resist the far-right agenda and advance progressive ideals.
We address key issues of concern to progressives such as:
Defending democracy: resisting authoritarianism and fostering greater democratic participation and control.
Advancing socio-economic, race, gender, and other forms of equity and social justice.
Standing up for justice and due process of law for all American residents, including immigrants.
Protecting the environment and combating the climate crisis.
We do this by:
Talking with and putting pressure on our state and national elected officials to advance legislation and administrative rules that address our main concerns.
Working to get progressive candidates elected to state and federal offices.
Educating our members and the general public about key issues of concern to progressives through public meetings, social media, and a biweekly newsletter.
Building coalitions with other progressive groups in order to act in concert to defend democracy against authoritarian efforts, foster economic and social justice, and protect the environment.
Building the capacity of our members and other progressives to engage in strategic noncooperation with those enabling rising authoritarianism.
